On the last Quibble - I can look out the window here in city hall, and if Sea Launch is in port, see both ships! Our Long Beach Community Band got to play a bon voyage concert on the dining deck of the Sea Launch Commander prior to it's first commercial launch voyage.
Trivia link - how did we manage to do that ? The Boeing Engineer who designed the shoreside facilities (satellite/rocket integration, and Admin) for SeaLaunch, played Clarinet with our band at the time!Fred Wagner, KQ6Qhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17305222822371192365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27332849.post-82063314031966680422008-04-02T11:08:00.000-04:002008-04-02T11:08:00.000-04:00Jay, saw on your twitter feed that you were let go...Jay, saw on your twitter feed that you were let go last week - feel very bad for you.

That said, I think you're right in looking at this as an opportunity to kickstart writing - I know I'll be along for the ride!Richhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06435582231180905967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27332849.post-26705921952345614512008-04-02T10:19:00.000-04:002008-04-02T10:19:00.000-04:00Hey Jay,Are you going to add an RSS feed?CuriousHey Jay,

Are you going to add an RSS feed?

CuriousDevans00https://www.blogger.com/profile/00079172462536319738noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27332849.post-26883231192027387822008-04-02T09:30:00.000-04:002008-04-02T09:30:00.000-04:00Jay,Bad news on the job front, glad to see we won'...Jay,
Bad news on the job front, glad to see we won't be losing touch with your wit & wisdom!
Consider yourself bookmarked, mister.
Tag, you're it!Don [frazld]https://www.blogger.com/profile/09385976797092192044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27332849.post-70568479303624004342008-04-02T08:11:00.000-04:002008-04-02T08:11:00.000-04:00Hello Jay, and welcome back, even if it is under l...Hello Jay, and welcome back, even if it is under less than joyous circumstances. I now get to take this site off of the weekly "golly I wish he would post something new" list and move it back to the daily "Must Read" list.

For what it’s worth, while I won't be deliberately slighting them, I won't be nearly as frequent a visitor there in the future, purely because the reason I went to TR was to read your column, and I used your page as a portal into the rest of the content. As they have removed my primary motivation for actually going to the site, they will miss my traffic on the rest of the site as well.

I hate to see you leave TR, it has been a heck of a ride, but I'm glad to see posting here.

p.s. some of us would have gotten the reference to the Scottish play even without the hintAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27332849.post-79694686554628068062008-04-01T22:50:00.000-04:002008-04-01T22:50:00.000-04:00That sucks, you were the only reason I spent any t...That sucks, you were the only reason I spent any time on Tech Republic. If you keep up the same geeky/snarky/slightly warped kinda stuff, I'll gladly follow you over here for my uber-geek fix.

Good luck with your new endeavors, especially finding a new job.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03923794452073434495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27332849.post-44220324229949916582008-04-01T21:41:00.000-04:002008-04-01T21:41:00.000-04:00Dear Jay,This doesn't have to be approved and made...Dear Jay,
This doesn't have to be approved and made public, but I tried to email it to you, and the one email I had (techrepublic) failed (of course).
I just can't see how TechRepublic can let you go. This is a sad day indeed. I hope it wasn't that I didn't post enough articles. I mean, I am searching for a job for myself, so I have been very preoccupied since I got my Bachelors last October (I know a very long job search), but if it was due to me not posting, I will really feel horrible. I will keep my ears open for opportunities for you while I am looking for myself: you have skills I just don't have. You should go to automattic.com (or was it .org), I forget. They are looking for a few employees to work on their team - which is mostly on WordPress but also on some other projects. I am sure that you would fit in perfectly with their team and you have the skills needed. I was hoping to get one of the jobs, but you have a family to support, and I have a husband who is working, so at least we have one income.

I am sure you will find something very quickly. People with your skills are snapped up right away. People like me who have a smattering here and there, but no depth are left sitting on the bench.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16828976097325176031noreply@blogger.com
